EXCELLENCE IN THE ARTS AWARDS

APPLICATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE STARTING JANUARY 6, 2012

Excellence in the Arts Awards- There will be eight $1,000 awards; 4 for music and 4 for public art/performance art/film (this category includes dance, theatre, and animation). These awards are intended to celebrate the bodies of work of Staten Island artists as well as celebrate their artistic development. The recipients of these awards participate in Summerfest, a series of performances at community festivals on Staten Island, that are free to the public in June 2012.

The overall criterion is artistic excellence. Artists submitting grants need not create new work. Site-specific installation will be considered, although COAHSI retains the right to select venues. Performing artists who submit original work will be given preference. All applications will be assessed by a review panel. Those who have received this award in the past five years (2007-2011) are not eligible. Applicants must apply to only one category. We encourage you to collaborate with other artists.

Summerfest Performance Schedule (applicants must be available one of the following dates):
SI Pride Parade (musicians only): Saturday, June 2, 2012
Art by the Ferry: (musicians/performers): Saturday or Sunday, June 9 or 10, 2012
LUMEN Festival: (performers only): Saturday, June 23, 2012
COAHSI reserves the right to choose the appropriate venue for the awarded artists.
